    Introduction

Have you heard the expression, "Knowledge is power"?

In today’s virtual world, this expression has never been truer. Knowledge gives you the power to:

Grow your income by creating a robust contact list of people who want what you know.

    • Establish and showcase your expertise.
    • Increase your income through information product sales.

Sharing your knowledge opens the door to new income opportunities; creating and selling an information product is one of the fastest, easiest ways of doing it.

This SkillBite will give you the information you need to create an information product of your own. Keep in mind, an information product takes time and effort to produce and market. The greater your commitment to making your information product a success, the more successful your results will be.

You can create physical products, such as a printed book or DVD, and digital products, which are downloadable. You can offer your information products on your website or blog, bundle them with other products, or sell them on a hosted website, such as SkillBites, Clickbank, Smashwords or iTunes.

You must provide value for people, so they want to come back and experience more of you by buying more of what you have to offer.

The first part of this eBook will give you an overview of different information products you can produce and how you can use them to make money. The second part will provide tips on how to create an effective information product to achieve your objectives.

    Blogs

A blog is similar to a journal except it is published on the World Wide Web. Your entries are called "posts," and people can subscribe to them and make comments about them. Your blog gives you a forum for sharing your knowledge and opinions with a large audience.

Because you want to build an audience and keep them coming to your blog, plan to add new posts at least weekly, so you create an entire community of followers. This is important since your followers are all potential buyers of your information product.

You set up your blog on a blogging platform. There are several online resources for this, including WordPress.com, Blogger and Tumblr.

Make sure you add "share" buttons to social media sites, so readers can share your posts on their social media sites. Offer your information products on your blog with a link to your sales page and shopping cart to make it easy for people to buy your product. You can also monetize your blog by adding affiliates to it.

When you become an affiliate, you promote someone else’s products and services on your blog. They will give you a coded link to put on your blog along with an ad for what they are selling. When one of your followers uses that link to make a purchase, you will receive a commission.
