COACHING AND MENTORING EMPLOYEES
By Laura Stack
“How lovely to think that no one need wait a moment, we can start now, start slowly changing the world. How lovely that everyone, great and small, can make their contribution…how we can always, always give something, even if it is only kindness.”
— Anne Frank, diarist
Introduction
Research shows that two-thirds of the people promoted into their company’s senior ranks had the help of a Mentor. They were happier in their careers, and they changed jobs less frequently than others who hadn’t received a Mentor’s assistance. Mentees earned more and were more likely to follow a career plan. As a result, a Mentor’s guidance can be invaluable.
Have you received coaching or mentoring in your life? Many companies, including AT&T, CIGNA, Colgate, Palmolive, Pitney Bowes, and Proctor & Gamble have successful formal mentoring programs.
What Is a Mentor?
